Last Weekend

Grandpa Tom and Grandma Susan were up last weekend. During a break in the rain (I swear it's been raining for a month straight), we went to Shelburne Museum.

One of the best motion shots from a carousel I've ever seen - everyone all looking, waving and smiling!

Riley & Grandma on the swings. If there is a swing to be found, Riley will be on it.

Later we took a drive to the beach in our town, which isn't a beach right now. Because of all that rain, and the record snow (and subsequent melt) we had this winter, Lake Champlain is over two feet above flood level. There are some towns around here in pretty rough shape. We are pretty high up, but a lot of areas aren't so lucky. Every time the lake levels off or starts to recede, we get pounded by rain again.

But while we were there we caught the sunset.

Notice the non-existent beach, and the steps that go right into the water.

At least it was pretty.

And finally, who can resist a good popsicle after a fun, hot day? Not Hailey, that's for sure.

Grandma Sandy is visiting now, but we've been mostly inside because, you guessed it, it's raining!

Silly

These pictures are already two weeks old, but still cute.

Stockyard

A recent visit to Shelburne Prison, er, I mean Farm.

(Yes, Riley's head got stuck, but it was easily unstuck.)

Jasmine

Hailey giving the neighbor's dog some lovin'.

Rolling

Isn't this a great hill? Also, I would at least like a nomination for parent of the year award - letting Riley roll down a hill while holding a giant stick. Totally safe.

Tricycle Videos

It's been a while since I've put up any videos. If you're bored, here are some long ones from my phone camera you can watch to entertain yourself.

Hailey mastering the tricycle!

Riley, trying soooo hard.

Hailey helping out her sister. Riley blames the bike for not moving.

More Outdoor Weekend Fun

Hailey has found a love of worms. And dirt. Not sure where this came from. Riley's getting there, but she's not the one who sat in a giant hole for an hour playing with worms on Saturday! Our neighbors were planting a few cherry trees this weekend, and Hailey made herself at home.

Riley would rather work than play.

Me and my babies on Mother's Day. :)

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Chris' birthday was Saturday and we had a mid morning celebration in our pajamas! The girls and I made a Truffle Brownie Cake on Friday, and Chris and the girls hunted for his presents with a little scavenger hunt I made up. The whole weekend was great, Mother's Day too! We spent the whole weekend playing outside, grilling and in general being silly.

Hailey's attempt at blowing up a balloon!

Hopscotch

Go Hailey, go!

Rain and Sunset

I hope you're not sick of seeing these because I'm not sick of taking them!

Champ

Last week we had a LOT of rain. There's a lot of flooding around here, fortunately none too close to us. But there is a low railroad track underpass right down our road and one day last week it was completely flooded and looked like there was a small river rushing over the road. Not willing to take my chances with the girls in the car, we turned around and went a different way.

The next day, we were headed out again, and the flood waters under the bridge were gone. Hailey says from the back seat, "Mommy, I know why the water was under the bridge yesterday! Lake Champlain has Champ (our Loch Ness Monster) and Champ jumped up and said '1, 2, 3' splash! And he made a big wave all the way up to the choo choo track bridge!"

Riley responded, "I think it rained a lot yesterday."

Yep, that's Hailey and Riley in a nutshell.
