Visitors

We're on week 2 in Vermont and time is flying. We still have a few stray boxes and a few things to hang, but we're pretty settled. The girls are having a blast and getting accustomed to Vermont, which includes things like playing with worms in our neighbor's garden yesterday, with their 2.5 year old girl Lydia. Oh, what a long way we are from Boston!

Erin was here all week last week and took the girls on several adventures, but I don't have any pictures. :( Thank you for the great visit Erin!

Grandpa Tom is here this week, serving the dual purpose of babysitter and house fixer-upper. He's measuring a cabinet for new shelves as I sit and type! He's also our resident photographer, since I've been neglecting those duties.

Grandpa took them to Shelburne Farm yesterday, where we went in July. I think this will be a regular spot for us.

The girls really are doing great and loving Vermont. I have to say how proud I am of Riley too. The first night we were here, we discovered that she had chewed big holes in both of her pacifiers, and decided that was the end of pacifier use. She has tried several future-lawyer caliber negotiating tactics to try to get them back, but she has done really, really well without it! Two huge changes for a toddler in one week - as great as she is doing now, I'm sure I'll pay for it in therapy bills later. (In case you thought we were tormenting one girl and not the other, Hailey voluntarily ditched the pacifier at about 4 months old and never looked back.)

We've got everything, including stunning sunsets! Now taking reservations for our very large guest room! We don't charge too much (you can earn your stay in babysitting).

All is going very well. Erin and the girls are out berry picking, I'm catching up on work, and we're making slow and steady progress on the unpacking. And we've only been here since 5pm yesterday! Chris is so happy to have us here.

Changes

Tomorrow is the start of our big changes. Even though Chris has been commuting to VT for a month, the rest of us here have been packing and getting ready to go!!

First, Alrinda leaves tomorrow after her year with us. She heads back to Sweden, and will start college later this month. Thank you Arlinda, it's been a fantastic year with you here and we will all miss you very much!

Then the movers take our stuff this weekend. I feel like I'm never going to be done packing (and getting pretty sick of it, though I was sick of it after one box), but they're coming Saturday whether we like it or not! The girls and I are going to spend the weekend with the fam, then drive up to VT on Monday, where our stuff will already be waiting for us. I'm kidnapping Erin on the way up and forcing her to spend the week with us, I'll need all the help I can get!
