Crazy Week

It's been a while since our last post but it has been a crazy week. Poor little Hailey got a nasty viral infection and allowed us to get our first Emergency Room trip out of the way on Wednesday night. She gave us a good scare when she woke up with a fever, chills and vomiting, but she has been such a trooper, if not a little pathetic. As you can see from this video, she's feeling much better now.

The next video is from a few nights ago. I think Riley was really laughing at Chris' lack of juggling skills.

New Blogs & Children's Museum

You might have noticed two new blogs added to the list on the left: Liam's Spot and The Vitullos. We introduced you to Liam a few weeks ago. He is a very cute newborn whose parents, Sarah & Bill, are big Boston College fans (hockey and football) and Boston sports fans in general - which you will undoubtedly see often in Liam's apparel. The Vitullos, Josh & Kristina, have been featured on the blog before too; we went to Nantucket with them in June (and pretty much hang out with them all the time). Though they don't have kids yet, they are cybersquatting so someone doesn't steal their name on blogspot before they do have kids. Anyway, just thought I'd point them out. Give them a read sometime! We are proud to be the inspiration (or blogspiration as I like to call it) for both of them.

The girls, Chris and I took our first trip to Boston Children's Museum today. It was a lot of fun, but I'm looking forward to going back when the girls are walking and can toddle around to explore. They had fun in the baby room, and the girls enjoyed the Three Little Pigs Show. We ended a hard day of playing by going out to dinner with Grandma Gerry, Grandpa Scott and Great-Grandma Gerry.

Cruising and Kissing

No, they are not out on their first date yet. But they are doing all kinds of new stuff. Here is Riley practicing her cruising. She's doing a great job moving along the furniture, despite the too-long jeans.


Hailey, ever the goofball and mimic, has started blowing kisses. She smacks her lips, and she does the hand motion, but not really at the same time. Absolutely adorable nonetheless. She's still reading her books, and now says "oh!" with every turn of the page.

So now that the girls are a little bigger and moving around a lot more, we finally get to enjoy the best part about having twins: pitting them against each other in feats of strength and speed. Typically, contests end with one or both girls getting distracted by a toy and/or stopping and reversing direction. But when one of the events results in a winner - that baby gets apple puffs and cheese for dinner and the other baby eats yucky squash or something. It's all about getting them ready for that harsh world out there. And to all of those other new parents out there that read our blog, Hailey and Riley have three words for you: Bring it on!

Ok, so we don't really train our babies to compete against each other and fellow infants, but if we did this is what a training session would look like:

If the girls ever do become athletes, I have a feeling it will be in gymnastics. They both love to be upside down. Often they won't let us keep them upright, they just dive backwards so they can be upside down. I'm not sure how all the blood doesn't rush to their heads!

Almost ready for kindergarten

Hailey has become very studious this week. She loves "reading" her books on her own. She turns the pages and she talks to herself like she's reading the book. It's beyond cute.

It seems like the girls are growing so fast these days. One day they are crawling, the next they are standing up on anything they can grab on to and before we know it they'll be walking. But more fun than the walking/crawling stuff is how they are they are developing their personalities. Hailey loves to tilt her head to see if she can make you do it (see example in prior post). Riley laughs like crazy when you put her up on your shoulders. These are the little personality traits that they are showing all the time and will make them into the little girls they are becoming. It's really fun watching that happen!
