On the go

We had a great weekend with the girls this weekend. Friday, Grandma Gerry and I took them to the Children's Museum in Easton, which is a nice alternative (aka cheaper) to the Boston Children's Museum, aimed at the younger crowd. The pictures below were taken there (on my phone because I forgot the camera - sorry about that).

Saturday they went to their first kiddie birthday party, for Quinn, the three year old son of one of my coworkers, which was held at the the Inside Playground in Watertown. All weekend they wanted to sing "Happy Birthday" to Queeeeeeeeen (that's how they say Quinn).

Then a trip to Ikea, which is just as fun as any playspace you can find. Sunday was swimming at the Y.

So very busy for the Sheehans, and I just realized this post reads like a "Where to take your two year old in Boston" guide!

Thankyouwelcome

First, my apologies, I've been a delinquent blogger lately. I have no excuse, I just took a break.

On to the post. I've been meaning to write this post for a while. Now that the girls are chattering up a storm, they say very funny things and I want to start recording those more on the blog.

One of the unique twin things that the girls have been saying for quite some time, almost as long as they have been talking, is "Thankyouwelcome". That's all one word. And what it means is "Stop whatever you are playing with and trade it with what I am playing with, right now." Hailey is usually the one that says it first. I'll give you an example. If they are each playing with a puzzle, a few minutes in (sometimes just seconds) Hailey will say, "Thankyouwelcome" and Riley will instantly stop and switch puzzles with Hailey. They have been saying it so long and so often that they are conditioned to do it and there is not usually any protesting or fighting. They came up with it on their own, but I think we have just always encouraged their politeness, and for a long time they were confused about who exactly should say "thank you" and "you're welcome" and when.

Here are some pictures from last weekend, when we were having a visit from Grandpa Tom, Grandma Susan, Susan's sister Karen and niece Abby. The girls were in prime show off / entertain everyone mood. They got dressed up and put on a show! I have some great video from that day too but it's not edited yet. I'll get it up soon.

Hailey is very into baby yoga. Ok, she just does silly poses and some of them resemble yoga poses, so we call it baby yoga. I tried to teach her tree pose, this is her modified version (which she did for about 5 minutes straight tonight).

Back to Reality

Well, Christmas is over. I know it's been over for more than a week now, but we just had our fourth and final Christmas yesterday (three sets of grandparents!). I've been off work since Christmas Eve and we had a nice long visit from Grandma Sandy, so tomorrow is going to be rough.

It has been a fun week though. The girls' cute meter is off the charts; I can't believe the stuff they're saying. Earlier today when they were sitting on the bottom step of the stairs getting ready for me to put their shoes on, Riley put her arm around Hailey and said, "I love you." How's that for heartbreaking?



Here's a video that is a few weeks old now, but cute anyway. We were singing/dancing the Hokey Pokey, at least til Daddy came along and distracted us. (I once again apologize for subjecting you all to my singing.)
