As Father's Day Approaches

Action shot! (thank God for digital cameras that can catch drool falling from a baby's mouth)

So it's been a while since I've posted, leaving the hard work up to Stacey as usual. But it seems appropriate with my first Father's Day approaching to chime in. As you can see, the girls are getting big and we keep seeing lots of "firsts." We just started them on their first "solid" food - rice cereal. For those without kids...yes, it's as nasty looking as it sounds. It's another thing I put in the column: stuff I feed my babies but would never (under any circumstances) eat myself.

In other "first" news, Hailey rolled over on her own for the first time yesterday. I of course missed it because I was at work and typically only see them for about 2 hours a day if I'm lucky. But at least with two, it doubles my chances of catching these big events.

I was talking to a colleague of mine today about how many people gave us some variation of this observation: "Since you two didn't have kids before, you won't even realize how much harder it is having two because you won't know better." In the words of Mr. T - this is jibber jabber. Of course we realize how much harder it is. For example - when they first came home and I would get up at 3 am to feed them, I would finish with one and think "Now if we didn't have twins, I would be done and back in bed...but instead I have another hungry baby here that I now have to feed." Just picture that for everything you do with a baby...and you now know what it's like to have two. Easy to imagine, right?

But the amazing flip side to this is that we know how incredibly lucky we are to have twins. To watch them interact with each other is so special and it will continue to amaze me every day as they grow up and realize that they always have a companion who will understand them. When I walked into their room today after getting ready for work, Stacey was feeding them and they both stopped and gave me a big smile and my heart melted (which it does about 10 times a day now).

In other news, we are very excited and happy to have Erin living with us for the summer (4 days a week anyway) to babysit the girls while Stacey and I are working. The girls love her and we're soliciting plans (evil or otherwise) to keep her from going back to school in the fall. Please email me whatever you can think of.

Happy Father's Day to all the dads who might read our blog!

You two are doing a great job!!!!!!!!!!

Keep up the good work!

Chris, your commentary may be a bit long, but also being a proud father I understand. If this was possible in 1978, mine would have been pages.

Have a great Father's day!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love, Dad, Tom, & Grandpa!

Yes, truly, truly the cutest twins I've ever seen. Everytime I look at a new picture, I just think, oh, they are sooooo pretty!

It's nice to hear how much you are enjoying them.

Take care, Sandra Wilber
