Our Summer Vacation

We just got back from a week at Grandma Sandy's in waaaaay northern NY on the St. Lawrence River.  The girls did great on the 6 hour car ride, we left at bedtime so they would sleep the whole way.  Here they are playing in Grandma's yard (Riley looks like she's trying to tickle her sister, which is way funnier to Riley):

It was our first big trip with the girls and was full of "firsts", including our first fever.  Riley caught a little virus and had a fever Wednesday and Thursday.  She was a great little patient, kind of pathetic looking but just very sleepy.  She's much better now.  She spent most of two days on Grandma, Mommy, Daddy or Aunt Kelli's shoulder looking a little flushed and out of it:

And Hailey had her first boat ride!  Unfortunately Riley had to stay behind, but Hailey and Daddy had a great time.  In other Hailey news, she is now constantly fascinated by her own toes.  She has also really caught on to the whole solid food thing and has become quite the piggy.  Riley had it down pretty much from the start, but man, once Hailey decided to eat, she ATE.  She has developed a real love affair with sweet potatoes.

Here's a boat ride picture (sweet potatoes not pictured, but Hailey's definitely thinking about them):

Here they are celebrating the Fourth (in their very patriotic outfits from Erin) with Grandma and Aunt Kelli:

As you can tell by the next picture, the girls are getting more mobile.  I tried to pose them on the couch, and this is what happened:

The girls are very much developing their own little personalities.  Hailey is very obvious about trying to get your attention and has learned a wonderful new screeching noise (although her sister has caught on to the fake cough thing).  Riley when she gets going (particularly when Erin gets her going) can laugh like crazy, and can be quite a little flirt.  But one very funny difference in the girls is their sleep position.  Hailey is very cool with her hands behind her head:

And Riley likes to curl up on her side with her hands under one cheek:

They sleep in those exact positions EVERY NIGHT (at least for the last 2 weeks).

If you'd like to see more, here are 13 more vacation pics.  I hope you enjoyed hearing about our vacation as much as we enjoyed being on it!
