Coins? Why do I need coins?

On Friday the girls and I took a field trip to our local mall. After breakfast, I said, "Ok guys, let's go finish getting dressed so we can go to the mall!" To which Riley replied, "Mommy, do you have any coins?"

Excuse me? Coins? Yes, but why?

"I'll show you," Riley says. She takes me into our bedroom, has me lift her up, and she points to the coin jar on our dresser.

"Coins," she says, "you need some of those."

Why, my darling three-year-old, do I need coins?

Her answer: "In case I see something I want to ride on, you will need coins to make it go." And stood and watched while I put coins in my pocket.

Yes, this girl, thinking well in advance (dare I say scheming), remembered the little merry-go-round in the mall that we typically try to avoid, usually with some apparently flimsy excuse like "mommy and daddy don't have any coins."

We are in so much trouble.

*picture above not actual merry-go-round from Friday.

Oh, and yes, they got to ride on the merry-go-round at the mall. Three times. The last 2 times I used dollar bills. Let's hope they didn't catch on to that.
