Getting Organized for Christmas

We did our tree trimming this weekend and the "baby cage" has temporarily become the "Christmas tree cage." Ah, the realities of life with 11 month old twins.

Hailey had a lot going on this weekend. One of our favorite NICU nurses, Sandy, used to say when they had a good day and figured out some stuff (like how to drink out of a bottle) that they were "getting organized." We've always liked that phrase and use it a lot. Anyway, Hailey got pretty organized this weekend. Several times now she has let go of whatever she has been holding on to while standing. Not for very long...just about as long as it takes to snap a picture if you're ready, but it has been happening pretty often. That's the first step to, well, first steps!

She also started snapping her fingers. She doesn't make any noise while doing it, but she very intently studies your fingers while you snap, then does it herself.

Miss Riley, on the other hand, gets organized in different ways. Like climbing all the way up the stairs on her first try. Or going to hide under the dining room table. Trouble maker.

Both girls have started dancing too. This next video is of Hailey dancing, and Riley running away, making a beeline for the stairs (the stair gate goes up this week). I think they were in it together - "Ok Riley, I'll dance and distract them so you can make a break for it!"

This video is a little different from our previous videos. Despite having the MacBook since March, we are just starting to play with the video editor. This was my first experiment. Kind of silly, but enjoy.

The tree looks great. Maybe this year you guys be in a position to throw it away within the normal time frame ... don't you still have pine needles in your back yard? ;)
