Riley's loving the new dome. One of the biggest challenges for me was having the girls go from their baby tub, where they really couldn't move very much, to the big tub, where they can potentially slip and slide all over. I was just nervous about giving up the safety of soft blue plastic when babies are covered in suds. I guess we're going to face this kind of thing all the time - as all of you parents know. It's great keeping kids as safe as possible, but you have to know when to let them upgrade to the big kid way of doing things. This is just one small step for me in that direction, and admittedly a rather inconsequential one. Soon it will be watching them walk without wanting to stick right by them to catch - then it will be taking training wheels off - then letting them take the train into the city for the first time. I might be getting a little ahead of myself, but it's all the same battle - the instinct to keep your kids as safe as possible versus the knowledge that they have to grow. I'll just chalk this up to yet another thing that I heard about before having kids but never really understood until now. That is an ever growing list!
So moving past the baby tub - check! And the girls seem happy with the decision:

Chris,
You are both doing a great job; and I have all the faith in the world that you will do great at every step. Just remember at about 13 to lock them in a closet until they are about 35. That's what I used to tell Stacey. Have to watch out for those NY boys :-)
Love, Tom, Dad, Grandpa
